Somebody help me out here. These people purchased in February 2023 and after holding for 20 months they expect a $155,000 windfall? I realize a lot of sellers are greedy assholes, but on what planet does this price make any sense?

I mean, it’s not like this is some luxurious, fully-renovated palace:

Looks like a pretty bog-standard mountain house if you ask me.
And I’m familiar with lots of different areas of Big Bear, but where the hell is Whispering Forest?!
Oh.

That’s, uh, really out there.
Unless this area is some heretofore undiscovered gem, I don’t see the appeal of living all the way on the other side of the airport. I mean, even the map of this area is BROWN. Yuck.
Assuming a brain-damaged buyer comes along and pays full asking price for this monument to mediocrity, here’s what they’re looking at:
Purchase price: $489,999
Down payment: $98,000
Monthly nut: $3,249/mo
That’s a lot of coin for a 1,000-square-foot cabin on the far side of the moon.
These people are out of their minds if they think they’re walking away with a $115,000 profit. Not only is this place pretty mid, it’s really far from some of the best aspects Big Bear living.
Who is this property for, exactly? A well-to-do hermit with a pillow fetish?

But what do I know? I’m just some dude on the internet waiting for sanity to finally return to the Big Bear market.
And waiting…
And waiting…

What do you think?
